Small Circle of Friendsのインストルメンタル・プロジェクトとして生まれた『STUDIO75』。
2005年に1stアルバム「HAND」以来コンスタントにリリースを続け、3rdアルバム「Land of Eardrum」よりシングルカットするカタチで “MUSICAÄNOSSA GRYPS”レーベルから12インチレコード『Lovely Day EP』が、2014年にリリースされました。
時を同じくして、“MUSICAÄNOSSA GRYPS”の主宰である中村智昭（以降 中村くん）が営む、渋谷の音楽バー ”Bar Music” にて、偶数月の第三水曜日に「暮しの手帖」というタイトルで、彼と共にDJをする日を持つことになります。
この「暮しの手帖」でDJすることは私たちにとって一つのインスピレーションとなり、今までの音楽制作に今でも”静かな刺激”をもたらしています。
中村くんが掛けるレコード一つ一つにその所在と意味を想い、棚に眠っていたままのレコードを引き出し、” 何か無いか？”を探し聴き続けるのです。
次第に『STUDIO75』の制作も、音の記憶としてインプットされフィードバックされることに…。実際、制作途中の曲を「暮しの手帖」でテストプレイすることも増えていきます。
そこで探っていたのは、”Bar Music”の場に”音”が溶け込んでいるか。なにより中村くんがどういう反応をするのか。その、2つ。
このルーティンを2年ほど続けると、結果手元には『STUDIO75』4thアルバム用に25曲ほどが存在していました。そして中村くんから「新しい『STUDIO75』のレコードを“MUSICAÄNOSSA GRYPS”でリリースしませんか。」と提案されることになるのです。まさに、二ヶ月に一度のルーティ
ーンが現実にフィジカルとなる瞬間です。
25曲が入ったCD-Rを中村くんに渡し、彼がそこから15曲をチョイス、A面B面のイメージを持って曲順を決めました。その後それを受け、ポストプロダクションを繰り返し、『STUDIO75』4枚目のアルバム「Over Your Shoulder」の完成です。
当初アナログから発売するつもりだった順番とは結果、逆になったけれど…。
2017年10月にCD版「Over Your Shoulder」がリリースされ、LP『STUDIO75』4thアルバム「Over Your Shoulder」“MUSICAÄNOSSA GRYPS”より2018年11月3日 ”レコードの日”にリリース。
